What role could artificial intelligence play for recruiters?
Trainee solicitor Amanda Glover talked to Computer Weekly about how artificial intelligence could become an invaluable tool to recruiters. However, there are some very real concerns surrounding this technology that should not be ignored.
The primary factor to consider in unconscious bias; something that is inherently held in humans. The artificial intelligence is only as good as the data it has access to, so there is a risk that the humans inputting the data will in turn create that bias within the machine.
This, in turn, could lead to employers facing discrimination claims, which then gives rise to liability claims; is it the fault of the developer of the technology, or the employer using the artificial intelligence?
With so many risks involved in AI recruitment, the legal profession needs to offer certainty in terms of the development and use of these recruitment tools, in order to manage the risks effectively.
