Associate Solicitor - Employment
What’s your role?
Employment law is a constantly changing area and my role is to help businesses manage their risk when dealing with employment matters. I provide advice and guidance on all the employment law and practical issues that arise – from drafting contracts of employment and helping with recruitment issues to advising on family friendly rights and disciplinary issues.
My work is a mixture of helping with day to day matters, such as managing sickness absence and providing advice on strategic changes, such as redundancy situations or business reorganisations and changes to employees’ terms and conditions. I can either work alongside in house HR advisers, or provide the businesses HR function, depending on what’s needed.
I assist in resolving disputes either internally or at the Employment Tribunal when businesses are faced with a claim.
I also work closely with our corporate team, advising on the employment aspects of buying and selling companies, and am part of our insolvency team.
I work with clients ranging from national businesses, local authorities and charities to local businesses. I have recently achieved several key results for clients in the Employment Tribunal, achieving quick results via the strike out of the employee’s claims at an early stage and, where necessary, assisting business in successfully defending Employment Tribunal claims at final hearings.
I have recently advised several businesses and charities on large scale redundancy processes and necessary changes to employees’ terms and conditions to meet business needs. I’ve also advised on TUPE in relation to business sales and the outsourcing of contracts, ensuring the process runs smoothly and our clients have appropriate contractual protection.
I’ve also helped businesses to introduce new sales incentive schemes for employees and have helped businesses to decide how best to address recent changes to holiday pay.
I regularly present training and seminars for HR professionals and clients on employment issues.

Excellent service where we felt valued and supported. In addition to the professional advice, we benefited from the pastoral support available throughout what was a long, stressful process. The advice was professional and we felt reassured and confident in the information being provided. The work ethic of the team was highly commendable and the team clearly went above and beyond the support that we expected at the outset. In sum, we were very appreciative of the advice provided and would wholeheartedly recommend the company.
