James Kitching

Solicitor - Corporate

What's your role?

It is important to me, and something that I enjoy, to get to know how a clients business operates and to work with them to get where they want to be. My role is to provide practical legal advice to help clients achieve their goals but it is also to provide commercial solutions, to do that I work on building a great relationship with them.

Whether it is supporting a client through a sale, which may take only a matter of months, or providing corporate support for a company on the acquisition trail, over a number of years, my role is always to understand how the business works so that I can give our clients the best possible advice but also point them toward the right people across the firm who can support them with whatever else it is that they need.

I am also a member of the firm’s Tech Sector, sit on our CSR committee, am president of the South Hampshire Junior Lawyers Division, and sit on the executive committee for the national Junior Lawyers Division.

Your experience

I started my career at Coffin Mew, working as a paralegal in their Wills, Trusts and Probate team.

I completed my training at the firm having worked in our Insolvency and Restructuring, Commercial Property and Corporate and Commercial teams.

I work with companies at all stages of their lifecycle. Whether it be starting out, looking for investment, expanding through acquisition or selling up. I have worked with multi-billion pound companies and start-ups run by those fresh out of university.
