Partner - Catastrophic Injury and Clinical Negligence
What's your role?
The role of the clinical negligence lawyer is crucial in today’s society. Negligence often causes injury, but in clinical matters the injuries can be catastrophic. Not only do I seek and recover compensation, but I also deliver answers to the questions that have been left unanswered by medical practitioners.
I investigate clinical negligence claims fighting on behalf of the families where clinical blunders have caused appalling injuries. This involves meeting with a family and fully investigating the treatment they’ve experienced considering where that treatment has fallen short of the standards set in law, and where appropriate fighting for compensation in the highest courts to achieve a just result. Many times this means multi-million-pound settlements. We then use those settlements to increase the quality of life of the injured person – new accommodation and care plans.
I’ve recently succeeded in a number of serious claims including, being able to show that a delivery at 24 weeks gestation was negligent and wholly responsible for the catastrophic brain damage suffered, and after a significant investigation I was also able to show that an amniocentesis needle was responsible for significant brain damage. In both cases the award in damages represented the significant 24-hour care needed by both clients.

Doug, can I say how helpful you have been. I have been a life-long client of Coffin Mew and will steadfastly remain so. Individuals such as yourself make a good company great. Your time and practical honesty has been most appreciated.
Thank you so much for all your hard work and determination during our case over the years. I know you have had as many sleepless nights over this as I have. You gave 100% all the time and went out of your way to make sure I was always kept up to date, and happy to explain things I didn’t understand too well.
