What's my role?

I am a Trainee Solicitor in the Property Litigation team based in our Portsmouth office.

I assist with all manner of property disputes including residential and commercial possession claims, boundary disputes and private nuisance, trespass, dilapidations claims, service charge and rent arrears recovery and other general breaches of leasehold covenants.

I have also prepared applications for adverse possession of land, assisted with contested and uncontested lease renewals and prepared advice in relation to lease forfeiture, the validity of restrictive covenants and on options for terminating a lease.

I provide practical, commercial advice which is founded on a strong legal understanding.

My experience

I joined Coffin Mew as a Trainee Solicitor in September 2018 and my first seat was in the Commercial Property department. I dealt with a broad range of transactions including sales and purchases; grant, renewal and surrender of leases and licences to assign/underlet. I acted on general commercial property matters and also, more specifically, pension investment property transactions, representing some of the UK’s largest self-invested personal pension (SIPP) providers. I, therefore, have a strong property background.

My second seat was in the Catastrophic and Clinical Injury team, where I worked on a variety of high value, personal injury and clinical negligence claims. I then spent 6 months in the Dispute Resolution team where I dealt with general commercial disputes.

Before joining Coffin Mew, I attended the University of Exeter, graduating in 2013 with a 2:1 in Human Geography. I subsequently completed the Graduate Diploma in Law at the University of Law in Guildford where I then went on to achieve a Distinction in the LPC with a Masters in Law, Business and Management.

I also spent several years working as a Legal Secretary in the residential property department of a Surrey law firm. This has given me an excellent overview of property transactions and provided me with invaluable practical experience.
