What's my role?

I am a Trainee Solicitor in the Clinical Negligence and Catastrophic Injury team, where I work on a variety of high value, personal injury and clinical negligence claims.

I am responsible for all new enquiries that are received into the department. This requires me to produce a detailed summary of the claim, outlining my opinion on it and then distributing this to the team, so that a decision can be made as to whether we are in a position to take on the work or not. I am then responsible for communicating this to the prospective client and assisting them with further actions.

I am also responsible for dealing with cost updates and making submissions to the Legal Aid Agency.

My experience

I joined Coffin Mew as a Trainee Solicitor in September 2018, my first seat was in the Commercial Property department, where I dealt with a broad range of transactions including:

  • Sales and purchases
  • Grant, renewal and surrender of leases
  • Licences to assign/underlet.

I acted on general commercial property matters and also, more specifically, pension investment property transactions, representing some of the UK’s largest self-invested personal pension (SIPP) providers.

Before joining Coffin Mew, I attended the University of Exeter, graduating in 2013 with a 2:1 in Human Geography. I subsequently completed the Graduate Diploma in Law at the University of Law in Guildford where I then went on to achieve a Distinction in the LPC with a Masters in Law, Business and Management.

I also spent several years working as a Legal Secretary in the residential property department of a Surrey law firm. This has given me an excellent overview of property transactions and provided me with invaluable practical experience.
