Charlotte Farrell

Associate Solicitor - Employment

What's your role?

I regularly assist both employees and employers by providing practical guidance, support and advice on all aspects of employment law.

I also work closely with our corporate team, advising on the employment aspects of buying and selling companies..

Employment problems can often be resolved by practical rather than legal solutions. My role is to ensure my clients are fully aware of all of the potential options available to resolve their dispute and to put in place the building blocks required to help them achieve their chosen solution.

The advice I give is focused on minimising the potential of litigation and unnecessary costs and time whilst meeting the needs of my clients. This applies to all my clients, whether I am advising an individual employee or a business’s HR team. I consequently spend time getting to know my clients and their specific needs and when working with businesses, I ensure that any issues are dealt with in a commercially sensitive and proactive way.

I work with companies ranging from national businesses and universities to local small companies and start up enterprises. I also have experience in providing employment advice to schools, having worked alongside several school HR teams to address their employment law concerns proactively. I provide prompt, practical and targeted advice to enable schools to carry on as normal whilst dealing with any employment issues that arise.

I also have experience in advising military personnel with discrimination claims against the Ministry of Defence.

If litigation becomes unavoidable, I represent employers and employees in all types of Employment Tribunal proceedings as well as advising on all stages of the litigation process.

I’m a member of the Employment Lawyers Association and I regularly present training and seminars on topical employment issues, as well as writing regular articles for our Employment E-brief.
