What's your role?
I am a solicitor and partner and I head the Court of Protection team at Coffin Mew. The team is focussed on delivering high quality, bespoke services to our clients. The team works closely with our wide range of services across Coffin Mew to meet our clients’ needs.
I am also the head of our Care and Protection sector, this is made up of a group of lawyers across the firm who have specialist knowledge and experience of working with care providers and consumers to offer you and your family or business the benefits of our knowledge.
I supervise the work undertaken in Court of Protection to ensure that a high level of client service is delivered. I work across all of our offices.
I qualified as a solicitor in 2008 at a Winchester firm where I gained experience in advising clients about wills, trusts probate and Court of Protection work. I qualified as a Trusts and Estates Practitioner (through STEP) in 2014. Since arriving at Coffin Mew in 2011 I focussed my own practice on Court of Protection work, in particular focussing on complex cases where the person who lacks capacity has significant assets.
Since I joined, the Court of Protection team has flourished from being a sole fee earner to a team of ten including five specialist solicitors. We are able to advise over the breadth of issues that our clients face including property and affairs and health and welfare matters. I act as a professional deputy and trustee for many clients.
Much of my own experience involves the management of property and affairs for clients with complex financial circumstances and care needs.
