Senior Associate Solicitor - Employment
What's your role?
I specialise in acting for both employers and employees dealing with non-contentious and contentious employment work. I provide practical guidance, support and advice on all aspects of employment law.
I am primarily based at the firm’s Newbury office but work across the firm’s other offices.
I am used to working with employers as well as senior managers and HR advisers in advising on risk management employment policies and procedures and dealing with staff problems in the workplace as well as changes to staff contracts redundancies TUPE transfers etc.
Many employment problems can be resolved by practical rather than legal solutions, and this is usually a better and cheaper way of resolving potential and actual disputes in the workplace.
I try to focus on advising on minimising the potential of litigation and unnecessary costs and time whilst meeting the needs of my clients. I think it is important to gain a better understanding of my clients and their business needs and to see them in their workplace where possible.
I work with all types of businesses and companies ranging from national businesses to small and medium sized companies and start up firms. I provide prompt, practical and targeted advice to enable employer clients to carry on as normal whilst dealing with any employment issues that arise.
I also have great experience in advising employee clients on disciplinary, grievance matters in the workplace as well as potential and actual Employment Tribunal claims.
I’m a member of the Employment Lawyers Association and I regularly present training and seminars on topical employment matters as well as writing for local newspapers and magazines, as well as the occasional radio appearance.
Although I am a generalist Employment Lawyer, which means I am experienced in all aspects of employment law.

I was more than happy with the service.
This is the first time I have needed the help of Andrew Egan. His guidance was exactly in line with the high standard we have come to expect from Charles Lucas & Marshall. Previously we have used Charles Lucas & Marshall in connection with house purchase and will writing.
All in all a very professional service and a pleasure to meet, and be supported by Andrew Egan. His PA/secretary support to me from Sarah Lardner was also excellent.
Andrew was reassuring, professional and efficient. Andrew’s PA always kept me informed of Andrew’s whereabouts and if there was going to be a delay.
Once again, thank you very much for providing the prompt and quality guidance in respect of my compromise agreement .. As expected, the quality of service and guidance provided by yourself is what we have come to expect from Charles Lucas & Marshall.
Andrew was very helpful when I was initially making enquiries, other solicitors would not engage at all with me without a fee but Andrew and I had an initial “free call” before my first appointment with him the following day. I found the service he provided very good and I would definitely recommend his services to others.
The service I received was excellent, friendly and professional.
Andrew went out of his way to include me in a meeting at very short notice. Delivery of services was excellent, as was the advice given.
