Coffin Mew strengthens team with two newly qualified solicitors and two promotions

Posted on: September 4th, 2020

Leading South Coast and Thames Valley law firm, Coffin Mew, has strengthened its team with the appointment of two newly qualified solicitors and two further promotions.

The news follows an earlier round of promotions during the Summer, which saw Emma Stevens appointed to Partner in the Dispute Resolution team and the announcement of three new associates within the firm’s Employment, Property Litigation and New Homes teams.

Trainee duo make the grade!

Congratulations are in order for newly qualified solicitors, Emma Jones and Samantha Kerins, following the successful completion of their training contracts with Coffin Mew.

Emma qualifies into the Family team, in which she spent the final year of her training contract building on her legal skills and developing client relationships. Emma studied Law and International Relations at the University of Surrey and completed the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law in Guildford.

Samantha takes up her role as Solicitor in the Dispute Resolution team, advising individuals and companies on a wide range of commercial disputes, including contractual disputes and debt recovery. Samantha completed her law degree at the University of East Anglia, followed by the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law in Guildford.

Miles Brown, CEO of Coffin Mew, said: “We are extremely proud of Emma and Samantha as they qualify into new roles within our Family and Dispute Resolution teams. Over the last two years these talented young solicitors have proven themselves to be valued members of the Coffin Mew team and we look forward to helping them develop and grow within the firm.”

Conveyancing specialists appointed to Manager

Experienced conveyancing specialists, Natasha Freeman and Elisabeth Smith, are both promoted to Conveyancing Managers, in recognition of their expertise and commitment to client excellence.

Ian Peach, Head of Residential Property, said: “Coffin Mew’s award winning Residential Property team is renowned for its excellence and reliability, built on the hard work and dedication of our people. Coffin Mew consolidates Thames Valley presence with new office on Newbury Business Park

Posted on: September 1st, 2020

Just three years after Coffin Mew celebrated a successful merger with Charles Lucas Marshall, we are pleased to announce the relocation of our Newbury office to prestigious new premises on Newbury Business Park.

Rivergate House is prominently located at the entrance to the Newbury Business Park (only 1.5 miles from our former Newbury office) and has contemporary interiors, flexible workspace, excellent parking, cycle and shower facilities, and really moves our Thames Valley offering onto another level.

While the pandemic has placed limitations on the way in which office space can be utilised, it has also enabled us to create a truly agile working model in the Thames Valley, with a blended home and office based model. We have designed a COVID-19 secure, fully socially distanced working environment, prioritising the health and wellbeing of our colleagues, clients and visitors.

Our staff are encouraged to work from home and to engage with clients through our broad range of digital platforms to suit their preferences. However, our new light, airy and spacious office lends itself to face to face meetings with clients by appointment in a safe and secure way.

We believe this move underlines our commitment to servicing the local market and wider Thames Valley region and we look forward to welcoming our clients and contacts to Rivergate House in the future.

Our new address from Wednesday 2 September 2020 is:

Visiting Coffin Mew offices – a new way of working together

Posted on: August 31st, 2020

Following extensive planning focused on protecting the health and well-being of our clients and staff, Coffin Mew’s Portsmouth, Southampton and Newbury offices have now re-opened on a COVID-19 safe basis for essential client meetings and staff working.

Our teams’ rapid response to the pandemic, supported by our enhanced agile working policy and video conferencing facilities, has ensured our clients receive great service, safely and securely, and when they require it. We are delighted to have received such positive feedback from our loyal and supportive client base:

Guidance for visiting Coffin Mew offices during the COVID-19 pandemic

We continue to encourage video and teleconferencing in place of face-to-face meetings and on-site working, but we have also implemented a set of COVID-19 safe procedures where office visits are necessary.

We recognise that many people have a degree of anxiety about visiting public spaces, so we have produced a guide to visiting Coffin Mew offices, which sets out what clients can expect from their next visit. We have also taken steps to ensure that staff who need to work in an office environment can do so safely and securely.

While the COVID-19 pandemic has certainly presented many challenges over the course of the year, I’m exceptionally proud of how we’ve adapted as a firm – from the hard work and flexibility of our partners and staff to the loyalty and goodwill of our clients.

We are looking forward to the future as we continue to support our clients in the “new normal”.
