Spencer Gardner qualifies as member of Mental Capacity (Welfare) Accreditation scheme
We are delighted to announce that The Law Society has accredited Spencer Gardner with a qualification that recognises a high standard of care for vulnerable clients. Spencer is the only solicitor in Dorset, Hampshire, Sussex and Berkshire with this Law Society mental capacity accreditation.
The Law Society accreditation was developed to ensure that vulnerable people, and those supporting them, coming to the Court of Protection are represented by experts with a depth of understanding of the complexities involved in representing clients who lack mental capacity.
Spencer said “I am delighted to have achieved this accreditation. I’m very conscious of the sensitive nature of our work and that we often encounter people at a very difficult time of their lives. It is important to me that people receive a personalised service that best meets their particular needs. The additional training I’ve received as part of this accreditation process has developed my skills and knowledge further, enabling me to deliver the best possible service to my clients”.
Spencer is an Associate Solicitor in Coffin Mew’s Vulnerable People and Court of Protection team. The team is part of the Care & Protection sector group and looks after the welfare and safeguarding of the financial affairs of those suffering from mental incapacity due to learning difficulties, old age and mental illness or as a result of an accident or medical negligence. He also assists clients with applications in the Court of Protection and provides advice and guidance on planning for the future and managing care fees and funding.
Annabelle Vaughan, Head of Court of Protection and Wills Trusts and Probate said: “I am incredibly proud of Spencer for achieving this accreditation. It is a huge testament to his dedication and commitment to offering the best experience for our clients, helping to navigate the often complex issues arising with mental capacity. This also demonstrates the quality and level of our expertise, leaving clients and their families safe in the knowledge that we are able to protect their best interests.”
