Southern Powerhouse – McKay Securities

Posted on: November 30th, 2021

Coffin Mew commissioned a major report to look at the challenges and opportunities facing the South as a region in establishing itself as, what could be described as, the Southern Powerhouse.

The report consists of a number of interviews with key people in the region – from chief executives of property development companies, property investors as well as those heading up the Local Enterprise Partnerships.

The Government’s recent announcement that it will scale back the extent of the HS2 rail lines between cities in the Midlands and the North in favour of improving existing connections draw into sharp focus comments in this article by Simon Perkins, Chief Executive of McKay Securities, commercial property investment company, as to the continuing importance of investment in rail infrastructure in the South, including Crossrail, the Western Rail Approach to Heathrow (WRAtH) and extension of the Great Western electrification further west and their relationship to both commercial and residential development across London and the South.
