Coffin Mew advises AJS Group on disposal of shares

Coffin Mew has advised the shareholders of AJS Group Limited on their disposal to Multi Packaging Solutions Limited.

AJS owns two subsidiaries, AJS Labels Limited and AJS North Limited. The group specialises in adhesive label production for major brands, such as the Body Shop, Nestle and Nature’s Way, and is an award winning UK market leader in the supply and production of self adhesive labels. Multi Packaging Solutions Limited is part of the global MPS Group, which specialises in packaging solutions for the branded and healthcare markets. The high quality AJS service is complementary to MPS’s existing client base and market offering.

AJS has been in operation for over 40 years, and has more recently been owned and run by the sellers, Andrew and Jayne Scrimgeour. The AJS business has steadily grown, including the opening of a state of the art factory in Pontefract, to complement its existing premises in Littlehampton, in West Sussex.

The team at Coffin Mew was led by Corporate Partner, Nick Gross, who was assisted by solicitor, Jonathan Sherman.

Nick Gross said of the transaction:

It was a real pleasure to work with Andrew and Jayne on this deal and great to see them realise many years’ hard work. Their vision for the AJB business was the foundation for this transaction, which I know MPS is confident will enable it to go from strength to strength under its new ownership.
