Protect yourself from Scams – Financial Scam Smart Day 2018

Posted on: November 16th, 2018

Financial Scamming is becoming an epidemic and is being noticed now as a serious crime. The negative impact it has on individuals and society is gradually becoming clear and the severe consequences and damages leave families and businesses at a loss. It has already emerged that these criminals purposely target some of the most vulnerable people in our society, who sadly, are not always able to protect themselves.

Protect your Loved ones & your clients from Scams – Financial Scam Smart Day 2018

Paul Murray Investments is hosting Financial Scam Smart Day on 30th November 2018 from 11am to 4pm. We want this day to be a platform for local businesses to exhibit, create new relationships and take on advice on financial scamming to bring back to the office and to your clients. This event aims to unite, educate and inspire businesses on how we can help our clients (especially vulnerable clients) and to strengthen our community to support this cause.

Scam Smart day, Scam Aware

Lindsay Taylor and Liam Colville, both solicitors at Coffin Mew are championing scam awareness. Lindsay comments “We have many clients who have either picked up the pieces after family members have been scammed or been the subject of scams themselves. It is very easy to fall victim to a crime when the perpetrator is a charming unassuming individual, trusted by the victim or a seasoned person using bullying tactics.”

Liam adds “By spreading the word and highlighting the tricks used we hope more people will be able to spot the signs of a scam in the making.”

The event has a great speaker line up including Professor Keith Brown from NCPQSW, Marilyn Baldwin OBE from Think Jessica and Stephen Morgan MP from the Labour Party.
