Lasting Power of Attorney Fee Refund Scheme

Posted on: February 27th, 2018

On the 1st February the Office of the Public Guardian announced that they would be making refunds to people who had applied for their Lasting Power of Attorney to be registered during the period between 1st April 2013 and 31st March 2017.

The refunds are being offered as the operating costs of the Office of the Public Guardian were reduced due to increased efficiency but the registration fee was not reduced to reflect this.

The amount of the refund you receive will depend on when you paid the fee and how much you paid. If you paid the reduced fee you will receive half the refund. Interest at 0.5% per annum will also be paid.

It is simple and easy to claim the refund online by visiting https://www.gov.uk/power-of-attorney-refund.
