Free online tool could help developers identify mining and groundwater constraints

Posted on: January 2nd, 2019

A free new online tool is currently being piloted by the Environment Agency and Coal Authority to help developers identify mining and groundwater constraints at potential development sites.

The scheme summarises existing data and expertise to give guidance to developers and consultants when designing SuDS in coalfield areas, which will be a useful tool, especially during the planning process, to show that where SuDS are used in mined areas their design and long-term management will reduce flooding and pollution of lakes, rivers and groundwater.

The pilot currently covers North East England but will be extended (presumably to include the South) if the pilot project is successful, which you’d expect it to be. Find out more here.
