Comment Magazine Issue 6
It’s been an exciting start to 2017 for Coffin Mew. On 31 March we merged with Charles Lucas & Marshall, creating a £15m legal business across eight locations, from Brighton on the South Coast to Swindon on the M4 corridor. The merger positions Coffin Mew as one of the largest law firms in the central South region, with the strength and depth to meet the demands of our clients.
The merger has significantly bolstered our offering to private individuals and their families, with over 50% of the combined firm’s work dedicated to private clients, including a weighty focus on Wills, Trusts and Probate and Wealth Management.
We have made no secret of the fact that Coffin Mew is an ambitious firm. We aim to be a £20m turnover company by 2020, and this merger is a big step towards achieving that goal.
Coffin Mew is increasingly seen as the employer of choice for talented lawyers and legal staff. We are proud to recognise and value individual differences and to seek to recruit and retain people from a diverse range of backgrounds. To cement that commitment to our people we have signed the Recruitment & Employment Confederation’s Good Recruitment Charter. By agreeing to this Charter, we are reaffirming our commitment to act fairly and ethically in our recruitment process, with a specific focus on providing equal opportunities to all current and prospective staff. It will also allow us to benchmark our practices against some of the UK’s largest businesses. And just as our staff inspire each other, so do our clients – two of which are profiled on the pages inside.
